Henley Beach farewells popular MSC

Fr Krish Jon Mathavan MSC was farewelled by hundreds of Henley Beach parishioners on Sunday January 19, just hours before voyaging to Tasmania to begin his new role as parish priest of St Therese of Lisieux in Moonah.
Arriving in Adelaide and residing at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Henley Beach as a Deacon in early 2017, Fr Krish soon called the beachside community home in preparation for his ordination to the priesthood there in October that year. He made a lasting impression on the community and, in particular, the Antioch Youth Group which he accompanied closely throughout his time at Henley Beach.
With the late Fr John Rate MSC as his mentor and close friend, Fr Krish spoke fondly of Fr John’s impact on his vocation, and his encouragement and support for his involvement with the youth group.
“It (Antioch) is something Fr John asked me to put my energy into, and I’m so thankful I did,” Fr Krish said.
“Today’s readings call us to follow God’s call for us in our lives, and I can say I did that over the past three years.”
