The Knights of the Southern Cross were encouraged to continue their work supporting refugees when they gathered for their annual State conference in Adelaide on November 9.
His Excellency the Governor the Hon Hieu Van Le AC officially opened the conference and spoke of his journey to Australia as a refugee, urging the Knights to continue their good work with new arrivals in the community.
Other guest speakers at the conference included acting Chancellor of the Archdiocese, Sarah Moffatt, who spoke about Plenary Council 2020 and Holly Roberts from the Catholic Office of Youth and Young Adults who outlined the involvement of youth in the Church.
State chairman Don Campbell said all speakers provided thought-provoking information for the 45 members who attended the conference.
He added that two of the major projects over the coming year would be writing the history of the Order in the lead up to centenary celebrations in 2022, and supporting the Plenary Council in “whatever way possible”.
