Opened in 1938, St Therese’s was part of the Mallee Border parish and is located just inside the Victorian border.

Parish priest Fr John Herd celebrated the final Mass on October 14.

Long-time parishioner Pat Kalms said although it was a sad occasion the day brought together families who had worshipped at the church over the years, with some of the older attendees accompanied by their children and grandchildren.

Mass was followed by a luncheon at the Murrayville Hotel.

With the closure of the church the three active parishioners – Pat, her husband Alan and Mary Knights – will now travel to Pinnaroo, Lameroo or Underbool in Victoria to attend Mass.
