Visiting Grand Master, US Cardinal Edwin O’Brien, conducted the investiture ceremony in St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral on September 6.

Both David and Michael have had a long association with the Church in various capacities over many years. They spoke of more fully realising their commitment to Christ and the Church through accepting nominations as Knights, and were supported by their wives and families on the day.

Educated at Christian Brothers College, David spent most of his career working for Telstra before joining the administration office of the Adelaide Archdiocese from 2002 to 2016. He undertook a range of activities in that role, including the design and development of a database to record and store all diocesan baptism, confirmation and marriage records.

David has been a member of the Brighton parish for many years and is a talented musician, singing and playing the guitar for Sunday liturgies and funerals.

Graduating from Rostrevor College in 1992, Michael has been a pharmacist for 20 years and is now a recognised business owner in that field. He has served on several boards in the health service industry and is a member of the Hectorville parish.

Cardinal O’Brien invested a number of other Knights during his visit to Australia, including in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre has more than 30,000 members worldwide and about 50 lieutenancies. It supports the Church in the Holy Land, particularly the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, through prayer and good works.
