This follows the amalgamation of Sacred Heart with the all-girls Marymount College at the start of the year.

Building works at Champagnat Campus, located on the former SHC Middle School site at Mitchell Park, are in the final stages of completion.

In other developments, Sacred Heart Senior (Years 10-12) has been renamed Marcellin Campus, Somerton Park.

Both campuses have been named after the founder of the Marist Brothers, St Marcellin Champagnat, to signify the new era of education for the Marist college.

Key changes to pastoral care structures include a new vertical house system which encourages students to build relationships with peers in other year levels, allowing for a more streamlined transition between campuses.

Shana Bennett has been appointed deputy principal at Sacred Heart College commencing next year. Ms Bennett said she was looking forward to the new opportunities and positive change that 2019 would bring.

“Next year marks the beginning of a new chapter for the college, an exciting moment in history and a time to further bring Sacred Heart College together as one school community,” she said.

“Sacred Heart College continues to be a leader in Catholic education supported by the advanced facilities and quality staff by providing holistic, positive psychological strategies for the students and a learner centred focus attuned to the work of Professor John Hattie’s ‘Visible Learning’.

“Mixed emotions of nerves and excitement are expected as learners and educators return to the college.”
