Holy Family parish on pilgrimage
News
As the newly formed Holy Family parish continues to find ways of bringing together its three Mass centre communities, 65 members recently went on a Jubilee pilgrimage by bus to St Aloysius Church at Sevenhill.
The idea of a pilgrimage to one of the three locations designated in the Archdiocese for the Jubilee Year in 2025 was endorsed by the parish council and advertised to parishioners over several weeks.
Liturgy and hymns for the pilgrimage were created by Barb Colla and Barbara Baggoley as well as hymns and popular songs, the most popular being The Wheels of the Bus go Round and Round and He’s got the Whole World in his Hands.

Parish priest Father Paul Mwaura and Deacon Tee Ping met the bus at Sevenhill. Reconciliation was available before Mass so parishioners could meet the requirements of a Jubilee Plenary Indulgence.
After Mass, pilgrims enjoyed their lunch on the lawn under the trees next to the church. Some also visited features of St Aloysius such as the crypt, the Madonna of the vines and Weikert Cottage which is now a historical reference to Saint Mary MacKillip and her two brothers, seminarians with the Jesuits at Sevenhill.
Each pilgrim was given a booklet for the songs, prayers and hymns on the bus, a Mass booklet, a rock engraved Hope 2025, and a special scapular crafted by Fr Mwaura’s sister’s group In Kenya, making a special link between the two parishes.
