A 2.7m high cross made from the floorboards of the first school established by Mary MacKillop in Penola will be the centrepiece of the feast day Mass for Australia’s first saint at Kensington on August 8.
Inspired by Mary MacKillop’s motto to ‘never see a need without doing something about it’, two Adelaide women are making every step count to raise money for Indigenous students undertaking their tertiary studies.
Year 9 students at St Joseph’s School, Clare, have been contributing to a local community kitchen as they embrace the mantra of St Mary MacKillop to ‘never see a need without doing something about it’.
A pilgrimage to give thanks for the life and work of their patron saint, Mary MacKillop, will provide a fitting conclusion to the centenary celebrations of the local Knights of the Southern Cross (KSC).
