As the Dominican Sisters prepare to celebrate their 150 year involvement in Catholic education in South Australia, the Dominican Old Scholars Association is calling on former students to join the group.
Archbishop Philip Wilson, local MP Nicolle Flint and Sr Bernadette Kiley, Congregational Leader of the Holy Cross Congregation of Dominican Sisters, joined the Cabra Dominican College community for the opening and blessing of the St Mary's Unit, Learning Centre, Monica Farrelly Atrium and St Catherine's Wing.
The foresight of a group of parents who saw a need for an integrated educational facility for students with intellectual disabilities and the generosity of two Adelaide women were acknowledged at the official opening of the Siena Wing at Cabra Dominican College last month.
There were tears in the audience when Year 12 student MIKAYLA DAVEY gave a speech at the official opening of the St Mary’s Unit, the Learning Centre and atrium at Cabra Dominican College. Here is an edited version of her moving reflection on how the school’s Learning Centre has helped her to reach her full potential.
