Wonder of art
Schools
Students at St Therese School, Colonel Light Gardens recently participated in the South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival.
The exhibition ‘Brushstrokes and Beyond’ was a celebration of creativity, imagination and the joy of self-expression.
The on-site gallery was open to the public for three days in late August. Many visitors contributed to the extraordinary attendance, with some patrons returning with for a second viewing.
The art display included works across a number of mediums including oil and acrylic painting, sculpture, print-making and design, digital animation and traditional weaving techniques.
Walking through the exhibition brought to life recent student learning relating to literacy studies, history, culture, and environmental studies. Student presentation of works ranged from real life to abstract, engaging the viewer in thought provoking wonder.
Amongst individual student art pieces, there were also collaborations from each year level, with a particular favourite amongst the gallery visitors being the artwork ‘Birds’ which explored how species gather in groups.
