Former chair of the Archdiocesan Finance Council and respected businessman Graham Spurling died on March 30.

Mr Spurling was actively involved in the Brighton parish and the Sacred Heart College Old Collegians, having attended the Somerton Park college from 1949 to 1953.
After serving as managing director and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Australia, he became president and CEO of Pacific Dunlop Holdings (USA) Inc. and GNB Technologies (USA).
He was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 2013 for his significant contribution to the automotive industry and the community, including the Catholic Church in South Australia.
The same year he was bestowed the papal honour of Knight of the Order of St Gregory the Great by the late Archbishop Philip Wilson.
As a member of the Diocesan Finance Council from 2003 to 2010, including nearly five years as chair, Mr Spurling helped reform and revitalise the financial structure of the diocese and was the driving force behind the SA Water building project.
He was passionate about the future of the Church, evident in his consistent and significant contribution to local, state and national initiatives and events.
Mr Spurling died at the age of 87 at Calvary Oaklands where he was a much-loved volunteer.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Peggy, their five children and 15 grandchildren.
