Salesian provincial appointed

Fr Peter Hoang Kim Huy SDB has been appointed provincial of the Australia-Pacific Province for the six-year period of 2024-2029.
Currently, Fr Peter holds the positions of vice provincial and rector of the Salesian Community and College in Sunbury. He is also the provincial delegate for Social Communications.
Born and raised in Vietnam, Fr Peter entered the Salesian pre-novitiate in 1987 at Oakleigh, Victoria, and made his first profession as a Salesian of the Australia-Pacific Province in 1989. He was ordained a priest at St Jude’s in Scoresby in 1997 by Bishop Hilton Deakin.
Following ordination, Peter served as teacher at St Joseph’s College in Ferntree Gully and Dominic College Glenorchy. He also served as the parish priest of Our Lady of the Southern Cross parish in Collingwood and Clifton Hill for many years while being a member of the Don Bosco formation community.
