Vicar General Fr Dean Marin said the walk would be a “peaceful public witness to the value of every human life and especially the unborn”.

The theme is ‘Every Life is a Gift’ with reference to Psalm 127.3 ‘Children too are a gift from the Lord…a reward’.

Fr Marin said the Synthesis Report from the recent Synod on Synodality speaks of ‘those in poverty…who do not have the things they need to lead a dignified life’ and then after naming a long list of those in extreme need says ‘the most vulnerable of the vulnerable, on whose behalf constant advocacy is needed, include the unborn and their mothers’.

“Here’s the ongoing challenge to us as Catholics as abortion up to birth is now legal in our State,” he said.

“The ongoing theme of these annual walks is ‘Love them Both’. Far from condemning those involved, our faith offers forgiveness and healing.

“Coming to the Walk for Life, joining with so many other Christians and people of good will is one way to continue constant advocacy for life.”
