Filipino Catholic chaplain Fr Franco Lacanaria CS recently celebrated Mass with Filipino communities in Northern Light parish.
The first Mass was held at Our Lady of the Valley Church in Nuriootpa on June 25 at the invitation of the Parish Pastoral Council.
After learning there was another Filipino community at Balaklava/Port Wakefield, Fr Franco celebrated Mass at St Vincent de Paul Church, Port Wakefield, on July 30.
The Filipino community prepared a whole roasted pig (lechon) for sharing with other local parishioners after Mass.
About 80 people enjoyed the feast and were grateful to Fr Franco who is an assistant priest at Mater Christi Church, Seaton, as well as chaplain to the Filipino community in the Adelaide Archdiocese.
