Fringe concerts for Cathedral
Local
The beautiful sounds of the Casavant Frères pipe organ will reverberate through St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral this month as it hosts three more concerts as part of the Adelaide Fringe festival.
On Wednesday March 9, Dr Amir Robin-Karas will play at a free lunchtime concert from 1-1.30pm, with organist Graham Bell featuring in a second daytime offering on March 16.
Dr Robin-Karas is no stranger to the pipe organ, being a regular organist at Masses in the Cathedral and has featured in previous Fringe concerts.
Mr Bell has been the organist at Wesley Uniting Church since January 2011. He is well known for developing long-standing traditions of church music and has been a soloist in many concerts over the years, especially for the Organ Music Society of Adelaide.
On the evening of Friday March 11 from 7-8pm, concert goers will be treated to a Festival of Hymns featuring organist James Lloyd. Mr Lloyd is the regular organist at the Cathedral’s 11am Sunday Solemn Mass and his vibrant and effusive style has pleased Mass-goers for many years.
Those attending the concert will be able to not only enjoy the music but also sing along to the hymns (with masks on).
Entrance to all concerts is free.
