Tune in to organ recitals
News
For the fourth year, St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral will host pipe organ concerts in 2020 as part of the Adelaide Fringe.
The free concerts will be held from 1pm on February 19, March 4 and 11 and will feature Perth’s Jacinta Jakovcevic, Melbourne-based Christopher Trikilis and local organist Sian Gardner.
Music director Timothy Davey said the magnificently restored 1927 Casavant Frères organ was the centrepiece of the Cathedral’s musical program.
“Organists are surprised by the vast array of tonal colour on offer in the instrument,” he said.
“Among our talented group of organists, two have extraordinary qualifications: Dr Amir Robin-Karas recently completed a Licentiate of the Royal School of Music and Sian Gardner comes to us with a Diplome Superieur de la Schola Cantorum in Paris.
The choir will present a carol service on Christmas Eve and perform the Sanctus and Benedictus at the Midnight Mass.
