Change of location for Marian Procession
News
Due to inclement weather the 2019 Marian Procession will be relocated to St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral beginning at 2.30pm on Sunday.
Adelaide Archdiocese Events coordinator Belinda Fusco said the Bureau of Meteorology had advised of persistent rain from the morning with a thunderstorm to follow.
“In the interest of safety of all participants and suppliers setting up and packing down the event, the decision has been made to relocate from the South Parklands,” she said.
The procession has been held every year since 1949, making it the longest, continuously-run religious event in the State.
While there will be no procession on Sunday, the liturgy will remain as usual in the Cathedral.
Parishes and communities are invited to bring their banners (to be placed on the edges of the Cathedral) and be seated together.
