When Scarlett Tonkin began making earrings to fill in time during lockdown last year she had no idea her fun designs would be such a hit.
Born in one of the biggest slums in Nairobi, Aaliyah Sirengo was only a baby when she was adopted. But the Year 11 Nazareth student has travelled back to Kenya frequently with her mother Susan Knapp and has seen what it’s like for others to live in poverty, without the basic necessities of life such as running water and electricity.
She may be small in stature, but Alessa Dumbrill is a giant when it comes to advocating for change and breaking down barriers for people with special needs.
