Bishops call for release of detainees

Australia’s Catholic bishops have joined the bishops of Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands in calling for detainees on Manus Island and Nauru to be resettled in Australia – eight years after the advent of mandatory offshore detention.

Emergency fund established

An emergency fund has been established to support about 20 asylum seekers in Adelaide who have had most of their government assistance taken away under new visa conditions.


More support needed for refugees on Manus Island

In the wake of another death of a refugee on Manus Island, the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference has called on the Australian Government to provide better support services for those asylum seekers on the island still awaiting relocation.
