The $2500 scholarship from the Association of Principals of Catholic Secondary Schools will be used to assist Kate to fund a learning experience that enhances her personal and professional growth as a leader.

Kate, who is the assistant principal – Teaching and Learning at Gleeson, was presented with her award by Lynn’s wife, Jo-Ann Martin.

The annual scholarship is awarded to an emerging leader working in Catholic Education SA in honour of the late Lynn Martin.

As a principal, leader and teacher Lynn was greatly admired by his peers, staff, students and their families. Lynn was passionate about providing an educational experience that would enable students in his care to achieve their potential.

As principal of Xavier College he embraced the Salesian ethos: a Christian spirituality that celebrates daily life as the place of encounter with God. To his community, Lynn modelled a leadership of tolerance, acceptance and forgiveness.

Lynn mentored his staff and encouraged them to provide for the students an education based on quality teaching and a love for each student no matter how challenging they might be.

He saw the development of future Catholic leaders as integral to all of this. He was committed to  developing emerging leaders who could contribute to the vision.
