The evening Mass held at St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral was celebrated by Vicar General Philip Marshall, together with Mgr John Swann and Mgr Rob Egar. Earlier in the day the students were given a guided tour of the Cathedral and even had the chance to venture into the bell tower. This was the first time the history-making Year 7s at Gleeson (the first Catholic school to have Year 7s in a secondary setting) had attended an event together and they appreciated the opportunity to honour the work of their college’s namesake and all he did for the SA Catholic community as a priest and archbishop.
