The team received an award in the 2025 Vice-Chancellor’s Staff Excellence Awards in the category of ‘Local and Global Strategic Partnerships’.

In addition to Fr McEvoy (pictured), a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Philosophy and Theology, staff members who provided commentary included Dr Claudio Betti, Dr Sandie Cornish, Louise Crossen, Associate Professor Darius von Güttner-Sporzyński, Associate Professor Maeve Heaney, Associate Professor Joel Hodge, Professor Clare Johnson, Emilie Ng, Dr Antonia Pizzey, Jacqui Remond, Dr Paul Taylor and Kathy Vozella.

The judges said the team contributed to the global media coverage of the ‘Two Popes’ with “seamless collaboration, rapid response and global engagement, setting a new standard for strategic partnerships through informed, respectful public dialogue during a globally significant religious moment”.

Professor Zlatko Skrbis, Vice-Chancellor and president of the ACU, said the strength of this year’s nominations for the awards reflected the deep commitment, expertise and impact of ACU’s staff, highlighting a shared dedication to excellence and making a meaningful contribution to the communities it serves.
