Go ahead for vital support for Gaza communities
International
Caritas Australia has welcomed clarification from the Israeli Government confirming that Caritas Jerusalem, as a local organisation, is not subject to re-registration guidelines.
This follows a statement issued by the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem on December 31, made after Caritas Jerusalem appeared on a list of organisations denied re-registration. At the time, the Patriarchate clarified Caritas Jerusalem’s legal status and confirmed that the organisation would continue its humanitarian and development operations in Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem.
These operations continued without interruption throughout the process of further investigation, which concluded positively earlier this week.

Caritas Jerusalem welcomed the resolution and expressed gratitude to all those who supported the process. Caritas Internationalis, the global Caritas network, also affirmed its commitment to continue standing alongside members serving vulnerable communities in the Holy Land.
Caritas Australia said it continued to work through longstanding, trusted partners in Gaza, where humanitarian needs remain immense.
Together, they are supporting efforts to provide lifesaving assistance, including access to:
· Food and clean water
· Shelter and household essentials
· Urgent medicine and healthcare
· Mental health and psychosocial support
· Protection services for vulnerable families
