Youth Parliament calling for nominations
News
Applications have opened for the YMCA’s South Australia Youth Parliament program which is returning for its 31st sitting.
Youth Parliament is a non-partisan program that provides a platform for young South Australians aged 15-25 to have their say on issues they are passionate about, build skills in public speaking, debating and leadership, learn about democracy and South Australia’s parliamentary system and engage with people of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences.
From March to July, participants will share their ideas, discuss the challenges facing South Australia and create solutions in the form of Youth Bills that will be debated in the prestigious Parliament House from July 12-18.
The 30th session of Youth Parliament debated the topics such as the improvement of understanding inclusive education, increasing access to healthcare in regional areas, and introducing digital direct democracy.
Travel and additional accommodation costs are covered for all regional and rural participants. Additionally, further sponsorships are available and encouraged for all participants to ensure that all young people can engage in our program.
Applications close on March 1. Click here to nominate.
