The Playford Trust is offering a new Rural Residential Scholarship in 2026 as part of a partnership with Aquinas College.
The Playford Trust is offering a residential scholarship for a student enrolling at Adelaide’s only Catholic residential university college, with preference given to students living in regional and rural areas.
One scholarship is available to a first-year student, ready to commence an undergraduate degree in science, engineering, mathematics or technology at one of South Australia’s public universities.
The aim is to help students overcome the practical and financial disadvantages associated with living away from home.

The scholarship will provide financial support to a high-achieving and motivated South Australian student to make the most of their studies, achieve their potential and contribute to South Australia’s knowledge, skills and research base.
The successful recipient will receive a contribution towards their residential costs at Aquinas College to the value of $8000.
Aquinas College was established in 1950 by the Catholic Bishops of Adelaide and Port Pirie to cater for students from the country areas of South Australia attending the University of Adelaide. Since that time international and interstate students have joined the college community and students also attend the University of South Australia and Flinders University. There are195 students living at the North Adelaide college.
The Playford Trust was established in 1983 in honour of Sr Thomas Playford, SA’s longest-serving Premier. It is a not-for-profit charitable trust governed by a voluntary board and administered with assistance from the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
