Among the first responders on the ground, Caritas Jerusalem has distributed 10,000 cans of infant formula to newborns and young children across the Gaza Strip.

The delivery, coordinated through Caritas Jerusalem’s network of medical points, targeted communities most affected by the blockade and violence, where access to basic nutrition had been severely restricted. The infant formula is a critical intervention for thousands of malnourished babies and mothers who have struggled to feed their children during the war.

“This action reflects our mission and commitment to human dignity,” said Anton Asfar, secretary General of Caritas Jerusalem.

“From the very first day after the war, our teams have been working tirelessly to support the people of Gaza – especially the most fragile: children, mothers, and the elderly. Delivering infant formula was not only about food but about restoring life and hope.”

Caritas Jerusalem’s medical teams continue to operate in southern Gaza, providing primary health care, psychosocial support, and emergency aid to displaced families. The organisation remains in close coordination with local health institutions and church partners to ensure the sustained flow of humanitarian assistance through safe and accessible corridors.

Caritas Australia CEO Kirsten Sayers praised the rapid response, saying: “This life-saving aid targets the most vulnerable in Gaza, infants and young children who have endured unimaginable hardship. Caritas Jerusalem’s steadfast resolve is a powerful expression of compassion and solidarity, and we stand firmly with our partners as they accompany families through recovery and healing.”

As Gaza begins the lengthy process of rebuilding, Caritas Jerusalem reaffirmed its commitment to standing with its people, bringing compassion, healing, and hope to those most in need.
