Farewell Fr Krish
Local
Fr Krish Jon Mathavan MSC was farewelled by hundreds of Henley Beach parishioners on Sunday January 19, just hours before travelling to Tasmania to begin his new role as parish priest of St Therese of Lisieux in Moonah.
Arriving in Adelaide and residing at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Henley Beach as a deacon in early 2017, Fr Krish soon called the beachside community home as he prepared for his ordination to the priesthood in October that year. He quickly made an impression, especially with young people in the parish.
With the late Fr John Rate MSC as his mentor and close friend, Fr Krish spoke fondly at his farewell of Fr John’s impact on his vocation, and particularly his encouragement of journeying alongside the Henley Beach Antioch youth group.
“It (Antioch) is something Fr John asked me to put my energy into, and I’m so thankful I did,” he said.
“Today’s readings call us to follow God’s call for us in our lives, and I can say I did that over the past three years.”
