Australia Day Mass 2025

The annual Australia Day Mass was held as part of the 11am Mass in St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral on January 26. The tradition dates back to 1981 and is a joint initiative of the Knights of the Southern Cross, the Catholic Women’s League and Therry Theatre. The procession began with representatives from each group carrying the Aboriginal, national and state flags. Sr Kathryn Travers RSM, spiritual director of Therry Theatre, is pictured giving the opening reflection. She said God had given Australia so much and now it was time to pay that love forward.
