Staff at St Augustine’s attended a special Laudato Si` day at the Edinburgh Recycling Centre where they learnt about what happens to our rubbish. The professional development day was conducted by Penelope Morrison, education officer for the Northern Adelaide Waste Management Authority.
Students at St Joseph’s School Renmark were able to learn more about Indigenous culture and traditions when local Aboriginal elder Uncle Barney (Howard Lindsay) made a special visit during NAIDOC Week. Raised in the Gerard Community near Berri, Uncle Barney is well known and respected in the Riverland area. Over the years he has worked with students at several schools in the region, helping them to better understand the Aboriginal culture and heritage. During his visit to St Joseph’s Uncle Barney told stories about his identity and beliefs, and students enjoyed hearing him play musical instruments, including the didgeridoo.
