Bishop-elect Michael Odiwa was farewelled by the African community, members of the Hectorville parish and fellow clergy at Mass in St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral on Sunday January 24. The former assistant priest and chaplain to the Italian community at Hectorville parish left Adelaide for Kenya on January 31. He will be ordained a bishop and installed as Bishop of Homa Bay, the Kenyan diocese where he was raised and where his family lives, on February 9. After last month’s Mass, Archbishop Patrick O’Regan gathered the clergy in a circle for a special blessing for the popular priest. Picture: Daniel Purvis.
