Pope plaque to be unveiled


A plaque commemorating St Pope John Paul II’s historic visit to Adelaide in 1986 will be unveiled in St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral by Archbishop Wilson on Thursday October 26.

Archbishop Wilson commissioned the plaque to acknowledge the significance of the first and only papal visit to South Australia.

“We might never see another Pope here in Adelaide,” he said.

“We need to have something to commemorate that he was here.”

The unveiling will take place at the Jubilarians Mass at 5.45pm.
