Christian Citizenship Leaders Angus Purvis, Demi Witt, Chloe Hurst and Bishop Russ this year led the school to another great result collecting more than 5000 cans that will go directly to the local Vinnies branch. These cans will be used over the course of the next 12 months to assist families within Gawler and surrounding districts.

The college has been collecting for this worthy appeal since its inception and estimates that in the past nine years more than 50,000 cans have been donated by the school community – equating to in excess of $100,000 in value (with each can costing $2, on average).

Deputy principal Gareth Watson said the appeal reinforced the college’s Salesian ethos to encourage students to be “honest citizens and good Christians”.

“As Christians we are called to help those most in need in our community and this appeal has been a tangible way for our families to contribute to those less fortunate than themselves and see the incredible result of what a community can achieve,” he said.
